Jana Kramer gained fame as an actress, singer of country music and songwriter when she appeared on the television show One Tree Hill. She played Alex for the duration of three of the last four seasons. She was featured in several episodes as a new country singer, which helped her album to reach the Billboard 200 Top 20. Kramer appeared as Portia Ranson in 90210 from 2008 to 2009 and Brooke Manning on Entourage 2009 before being cast on the show on the CW's One Tree Hill as Alex Dupre in the year 2009, where she continued to appear until the final season of the show in 2012.
